To formally inaugurate the 18 newly-elected Student Council Officers, the Western Institute of Technology (WIT) – Senior High School (SHS) Department conducted an Induction Program through Zoom and Facebook Live on Tuesday, August 31.
Sharing experiences and insights about leadership and emphasizing the words 'carpe diem', Ms. Joanne Badrina, Principal of WIT-SHS, opened the said program.
The principal ended her speech in Filipino leaving the incumbent officers a challenge to succeed in their desire as leaders. She also emphasized to “do what is right and to take advantage of every opportunity".

"Know thyself. Know what your people want. Synergize. Communicate. Aim for the maximum." – these are the words highlighted by Mr. Sam David Andrada, guest speaker, a student leader from Central Philippine University, and an active youth leader of Capiz. Following this, he also advised the newly elected officials that a secret to a thriving organization is learning how to rejoice in public and remembering to reprimand in private. Concluding his talk, Mr. Andrada shared his realizations once during a jeepney ride. “The choices that determine our character, the power of barya, the change that we want, the power of katok, the length of our stay” are but a few representations of what it takes to be a leader, and that leadership can be found even in the most mundane of things.
Succeedingly, the WIT-SHS Department handed out certificates to the members of the 2021 Electoral Board in appreciation of their efforts for the conduct of a fair and peaceful school elections.
On passing over the responsibility, Ms. Bea Grace Subega, former WIT SHS President graced the event highlighting to always remember the three letters engraved in WIT; Wisdom. Integrity. Truth.
Finally, to officially install the newly elected officers to office, Mr. Andrada headed the oath-taking, marking the beginning of the new officers’ service to fellow WITtians.
The program concluded with Ms. Princess Ann Calise, Student Council President, delivering her inaugural speech. Verbatim, “The council pushes for inclusivity. We hear you, we see you, and our duty calls us to respond to that”. Calise, in closing, pledged to bring the institution into a thriving path with the hand-in-hand support of her fellow officers and the whole WIT-SHS Community.
